Thomas Jefferson Weeps

"The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object." - Thomas Jefferson

So the best this country can offer for President is an old man who clearly isn’t mentally up to the strenuous nature of being president and a black man (this has to be pointed out for some reason) who lacks experience paired with a slick talking career politician? Really? After what the U.S.A. has been through the last eight years? Really?

I have no allegiance to either political team as I’m an independent moderate. I’m not ashamed of my country but I am ashamed of those who inhabit it. We the people have the ability to force our will by electing candidates that share our views. We’ve seen what happens when you elect the wrong candidates and it seems even more political apathy has set in. Yet, the American people are focused and the most trivial and inane bullshit imaginable.

Right now Americans are debating who made the silliest speaking mistake. I mean can you believe Obama messed up introducing Biden! I bet McCain is still focused on the Iraq & Pakistan border problems! WTF? What about the real issues people? What exactly will “Change” Barack? What day and what year is it Johnny? How big is the federal deficit anyone, anyone, Bueller? Answer:

The debates I see and hear are similar to monkeys throwing shit at each other. Only in most cases someone else made (wrote/said) the shit that is being thrown. People are jumping up and down rooting for their team without ever really acknowledging or understanding that team’s weakness. If a Republican says anything negative about a Democrat he is a Neo-Con. Vice versa and the Democrat is whining pinko pussy. I don’t think most people realize our political parties are about as close together as you can get in the world without being called the same. Maybe some healthy debate about the pros and cons of each political package would be useful. Although, maybe McCain will fall off a stage and none of it will matter anymore.

The end result in all of this is my choice is between which pile of shit smells the least. I could vote third party but there isn’t anyone any better that has a legitimate chance at anything other than fucking up another election. Why that is also makes me sad. When all is said and done really the only choice is to continue the Bush Administration or put a stop to it. The only problem is there isn’t enough real information/debate/insightful speculation out there on exactly what the alternative really is. It’s like being asked by a rapist if you would like them to stop. You could tell them yes only not realizing they left out the part about once they do two other guys are going to take over.
