Complexity

As we construct around the world we are creating systems. Instead of a living system the system becomes more mechanical. Take the highways built to direct the flow of traffic in that they are very much like the earths circulatory system for cars and trucks. If you look deeper into the actual vehicles we travel in they have their own circulatory system. They have the battery/alternator that creates electricity to power the electronic system in most vehicles. It's like we are geared to create life even if that life or system is synthetic or mechanical.

We keep making these electronic and computerized systems more and more complex. Eventually I'm sure we will have technologically evolved to the point where computers and or robots become a new sort of working class. If technology keeps improving how will it change our ability to create life? At some point might we be able to create a complex computerized system that becomes conscious? Maybe we are slowly playing God by evolving technology to the point to where technology not only will create itself but also sustain itself.

If consciousness is a result of our complexity then wouldn't it be fair to say that some day technology will advance to the point to where we can create such complex systems that they are conscious? Could it be that cells evolved to the point where they created consciousness by being so complex in the first place?
